Lead Poisoning Prevention

The Lead Program focuses on preventing childhood lead poisoning through education, surveillance, and follow-up services. The program works to identify children who may have been exposed to lead and connects families with appropriate resources to reduce exposure and protect their health.

The program provides education to parents and caregivers about common sources of lead exposure, the importance of blood lead testing, and ways to prevent lead poisoning. Staff also assist with follow-up for children with elevated blood lead levels, coordinate with healthcare providers and the Ohio Department of Health, and help families access additional testing, environmental assessments, and other necessary services.

The overall goal of the program is to reduce lead exposure, promote early detection, and protect the health and development of children throughout Hocking County
